Clear Creek

Front Range/Denver

| Current ConditionsHatches | Trends | Weather |

The Clear Creek Canyon is close to Denver and a jewel of a fishery.  Despite the many ecological disasters that have occured over the years on this stretch of nature this creek produces some fine insect hatches including a wonderful trico fall in the late summer and contniuous caddis pops which leads to a healthy population of rainbows and browns in a variety of sizes including, very rarely, some that will really surprise you.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

Current Flows: 40 cfs
Clarity:
Gin Clear
Water Temps:
39°
Current Food Sources:
Midges
The Flies to use right now:
Apricot Eggs 12-16, Rock Worms 8-10, Jujubee Zebra 18-22
Clear creek always fishes very well in the Spring Pre-Runoff.  Fish are aggressive and hold to the edges when the days are chilly, the sun is out and the wind is down.  When the wind kicks up and the sun goes behind the clouds, look for them in deeper holes.
